The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has connected all territorial bodies to the inspection of building materials markets in the territory of the Russian Federation. This was reported on Tuesday by the FAS press service.

"The agency has involved all territorial bodies in carrying out additional inspections in the markets of metal products, wood, non-metallic and paints and varnishes, cement, brick, aerated concrete, mineral wool, sheet glass, roofing materials, bitumen, primary polymers. measures ", - said in the message.

It is clarified that due to the large number of incoming applications for the increase in the cost of materials in the construction market and related markets, FAS Russia decided to expand the list of audited manufacturers and suppliers of building materials operating in the Russian Federation. "The results of the monitoring carried out by the department showed that at present conditions are developing in the domestic market that allow producers to reduce prices in certain markets. At the end of 2020, metal prices began to rise sharply in Russia, and later other building materials also rose in price. According to Rosstat, construction materials rose in price in Russia by 12.5% in the first half of 2021 compared to the same period last year. At the same time, prices for building materials rose by 6.75% in June compared to May 2021 and by 23.9% compared to June 2020. Since the beginning of 2021, their value has increased by 19.6%.

At the end of 2020, a number of developers in Russia complained about an increase in the cost of rolled metal, which contributed to an increase in the cost of construction. From February 1, 2021, protective duties on waste and scrap of ferrous metals were introduced, and it was also proposed to purchase metal products by developers directly from manufacturers, excluding the trader's link. The FAS also got involved in the case, which carried out inspections on the metal products market. As a result, cases were initiated against a number of traders, as well as manufacturers themselves, such as MMK, NLMK and Severstal. According to the service, they maintained monopoly high prices in the flat steel market.
